Moon Lina? Name Change
Hi Guys, I've been having some thoughts recently on changing the name of this blog.
'Black Liner and Things' is starting to annoy me now, it sounds too... Generic, I'm not sure that's the word I'm looking for.
But I have come up with the name 'Moon Lina', it feels and connects with me more except it does miss the Beauty/Fashion blog aspect...
So, originally the name 'Moon Liner' came into my mind. I don't know where from. Now, it reminds me of the phrase 'Every cloud has a silver lining'.
Then, 'Moon Lina.'
- Firstly, it looks similar to Mona Lisa to me, which is a weird obsession with mine. My mum always says that when she took me to the Louvre when I was little that I put my hands in front of my eyes whilst walking through the the religious gory paintings, but when we arrived at Mona Lisa, that I stood there for hours just staring mesmerised at it.
- Next, I love celestial things. The Moon, 'Balloona' as I used to call it is a very interesting subject for me. It's the only other place in space that we have reached and human beings have stood on.
- Again the silver lining phrase.
So, those are some of the reasons that I am thinking of using this name.
What do you think?
Do you prefer 'Moon Lina', or 'Black Liner & Things' or any other suggestion?

Intro to Photography: RTI Boat Race '12
To be cropped... |
Hey guys,
So something that I have been yet to share with you is my passion for photography. Although it seems like most people these days are photographers with iPhone, other mobile phone camera's becoming so good and Instagram (follow me!! ;) link in the side bar). I have been one of those.... But it has helped me, because I realised that some of the photography I love best is the pictures of everyday life but seen in a different way. For me, this is incredibly special. It debates with how you see the world. And it made me notice all the beauty in little things. Such as when I'm walking back from the main bit of town in the evening I see the moon shine, split into a triangle by 2 clouds. The problem is when I see these is that I only ever have my iPhone, and although it's a great camera(especially since recently I got the iPhone 4s), it doesn't capture everything perfectly. So, my self set mission is to take the Canon(EOS 550D) out more often, on normal occasions. I am still learning with Photography, well yet to learn really... I haven't ever been taught, just read most of the manual. I am currently scouring the internet and learning more about exposure... etc and all the basics.
And with that said, I wanted to share some of my favourites from a boat race that I went to earlier this year. (The Round The Island Boat Race 2012, IOW) if you were wondering... I'm hoping to do more of these posts as I take more photos and share some that I have previously taken. Also, keep in mind that these are unedited, as I haven't taken the time to learn my Photoshop Elements yet!!
Let me know if you did/didn't enjoy this type of post and I will try and do more/less of them.

Playlist: Need to Know & My Life with Music so far
On my iPhone I have a fair amount of music. 1077 songs to be exact. Less than a lot, a little more than a few.
The thing is that I love 95% of the songs. I still am and have always tried to delete songs(not completely, just iTunes) if I don't like them too much. So when I shuffle through them I'm usually happy with what comes. Sometimes a strange mix, but nice.
So, before you read further I better give you a quick insight to my life with music. I grew up with Jazz and Musicals because of my Dad being a voice coach( www.thevoiceacademy.com ), musical composer and is currently finishing off his book,'Singing From The Soul', complete with voice exercises and backing tracks.
Anyway, so growing up with him and my mum, although at the time it was my Dad's music that took over the speakers, I have always had a special place for Jazz. That is, of course, where my nickname fit in. My real name is Jasmine, which I love and still use every so often but I feel Jazz is me at this moment in time. From there my dad moved out and my mum started playing her music. It was very different to the music I had always heard. I really didn't like it to start with so we kept throwing some jazz in there somewhere
She would play Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Cave and James Taylor, that sort of thing. After I while I started to take a liking to them, although I always loved James Taylor. Definitely a lot of childhood memories in his album 'Hourglass'.
Now she likes those still but has added a lot of new songs and seeing as she has around 2800 songs on her iPod I couldn't possibly name them all. She probably likes a lot more 'chart' music than I do. I have heard Lana Del Ray's album on repeat blasting out in her office or the kitchen.
So, that's enough of that seriously long intro... Here's the playlist.
1.Ivory Road - King Charles
2. You Always Make Me Smile - Kyle Andrews
3. Vincent - Don McLean
4. Mr Fletcher's Song- Jean-Michel Bernard
5. She Don't Have To Know- John Legend
6.Take Me As I Am- Wyclef Jean ft. Sharissa
7. Never Too Late- Three Days Grace
8.Build God, Then We'll Talk- Panic! At The Disco (Sorry about the awkward video... ;)
9.All That Jazz- DJ Fresh
10. Right Here In My Arms - HIM
11. Why Do I Do?- Tyler James
12. What's The Difference? - Dr Dre, Eminem & Xzibit
13.The Kill- 30 Seconds To Mars
14. Bella Luna - Jason Mraz
15. White Blank Page - Hattie Gladwell
16. La Vie en Rose - Louis Armstrong
17. Only Human - Jason Mraz
18. Teardrop- Newton Faulkner
19. Build Me Up Buttercup - Frank Turner (After getting into him through the Cambridge Folk Festival, I was lucky enough to be there on his first major gig in Wembley on Friday 13th April 2012, since then he's performed at the pre-opening ceremony at the Olympics and got all famous. Well Done Frank.)
20. Chaka Demus - Jamie T
21. Mona Lisa - Nat King Cole
Yep that's it. I hope you have enjoyed listening to some of my repeated songs at the moment and maybe found something new that you like.

DIY Easy Cheap M&M Gift Idea
So, as you can probably guess from the pictures, this is incredibly easy to make, and it looks really cute once it's done.
All you need is:
- A jar/bottle, I used a 'Firefly' drink bottle, but a milk bottle could also work.
- For this size bottle, 2 large packs of chocolate M&Ms
- A ribbon of some kind(optional)
Then start filling it up!! I did brown, red, orange, yellow, green then blue but you can choose any order you fancy! With the second pack, do the same but fill it up in the other direction e.g. Blue, Green, Yellow...
Pop the lid back on, eat the leftover M&Ms, tie a ribbon around then top and you're done. Simple present idea for any occasion. For Christmas, you could use just green and red M&Ms!!
